Plato, Socrates...Thales

Thales of Miletus
Thales of Modesto
Thales David of Laie
Thomas Thales of Crib of Orchard Courtucus of Corvallis

Tommy's middle name is Thales after my dad.  Growing up I always thought it was a weird name because - it just is. When I discovered it was the name of one of the Seven Sages of Greece, I was even more baffled - we are not Greek - also grateful considering my grandparent's choice out of the list.  I am glad I didn't have to name him Tommy Pittacus.

That said, Tommy must have an innate knowledge of the history of his name because every morning he wakes up with one arm out of his swaddle making it look like a toga made out of sock monkey material (thank you Marilyn).  I walk in to find him vocalizing his desire for breakfast and waving his naked arm around as if he is teaching some philosophical truth to the masses.  My little Thales - the "father of science".

Such a legacy to live up to!! So is Tommy really sleeping in his crib at night? I am very impressed if he is--I always say that I am going to put the baby back in the bassinet but since I nurse laying down I soon find three of us in bed.

Does he always sleep naked? That is a cute blanket.

It does look like a little toga - hilarious! Ella is sitting with me and thinks Tommy is very cute :-)! She asked me what his name is and I said, "Thomas" to which she replied, "like the train!"
