Ghanian's can sleep anywhere!
All of the obruni (white) women serving in the church in accra have a scripture study monday at 10am this week was my first. i spent the whole hour chasing thomas around, trying not to cry becasue the area presidency's homes are so nice i got homesick and keeping thomas from trying to suck the face off of the other baby there - or steal her cheerios! so with that back ground. the area president's wife is so sweet and kind - she gave us a ride home after words and listened to my woes of thomas not sleeping and me struggling with having him just sleep on my back like all of the babies here. she said, "its true, a ghanian can sleep anywhere." i thought it was a generalization until yesterday when seth and i were comming back from the beach in heavy, smoggy traffic. i looked over and saw a man asleep on the flatbed of a semi in the middle lane of a 4 lane freeway. i wish i had a picture but i was in a tro-tro full of ghanian's and thought it might be rude...so it is true, ghanian's can sleep anywhere!

Wow--so is the Area Presidency family that Laura knows--Steven Abual (if I remember right?).
Cool to have a scripture study group to go to! Even if you don't end up getting much spiritual uplift I'm sure you will enjoy the companionship of the other women.
I'm so glad you guys are blogging during your stay in Ghana! I love reading your posts. I hope you continue to get used to the Ghanian way of life quickly! I'm sorry things can be rough there, but you guys are very adaptable and strong!

I had those same feelings when we were in Thailand - about how nice the other church members' houses were. Of course they were all on expat packages and we were just students, but really, it was a great experience for us anyway because we got to see a part of Thai life that traditional expats never would. Still - it would have been nice to have an oven, or a microwave, or anything to make chocolate chip cookies with.
