making fufu

fufu is the staple food here in ghana. it is made by boiling plantain or casava and then mashing it until the startches break down and form a gelatinous mass. it is really good but really really heavy and sticky. the other day i made fufu with linda and selena - ben's mom. the whole house came out to watch me...laughing and taking video of the obruni (white person) making fufu - they kept asking if i was tired...it is super hard and i have a huge blister, i was actually sore the next day. but i did impress them after i got the hang of it...selena said, sista you are africa...i have arrived!! seth also made fufu while carrying thomas on his back....he is still a better housewife than me even in ghana.

I'm so excited to see some pictures and glad to hear you are all adjusting and finding what works for you there. In Uganda they called their fufu matoke and I LOVED it! So, next time you eat it think of me :-)! The picture of the three of you is SO cute...I can't believe how big Thomas is!

I love the stories about Seth being a good housewife. SO GLAD to hear more things are going better. Things with Tommy will improve too. Mom said you had some pizza and that soothed some worries- isn't that the truth that sometimes some familiar food helps you feel better.

We are missing you 3! Thanks for the pictures.

Carrie-you kill me. Was Seth wearing clogs while mashing though? That's the real question.

I'm wondering where the picture of you and Seth is making the fufu. Try getting Seth pregnant and see if he is still a better housewife. He has never been a very good sport being sick.
