Travel..thus far
so i have felt super isolated but i am starting to learn how to get around. \yesterday i took a taxi with a man named Divine to shoprite - a quasi american store...on the way we got pulled over and Divine had to pay the cop 5 cedis...5 dollars just to pass - corruption. on my way home i tried to take a trotro - a van/bus held together with string that packs 20 people in at a time. they would not let me in..they were trying to protect a single woman traveling with a baby - i had to take a taxi and pay 4 bucks! i felt dejected - even though they meant well - then to make matters worse i got lost in the taxi and the driver was a little put out...oh the trauma of learning a new country's transportation system. luckily my first taxi driver was ...divine.

I can't believe that. Good for you- getting out there and braving the system.
:-) Great name! I'm glad that things seem to be getting better and proud of you for getting out and about - brave woman!
So I am still trying to figure this all out...I thought that the average annual income for someone in Ghana was around $500. So why are you being charged so much for taxi rides, housing, etc... Is it because you are an American?
With all the dirt that Tommy is covered with maybe he will fit in a little more (color wise) : )
Are you missing any foods yet?
