How is Baby Tom Tom doing?

The other day I got to talk to a couple of siblings on the phone. They asked what Africa was like and how Thomas was doing…reading the blog should answer the first question. The second…I will answer with this post. Thomas is doing great – he loves all the new faces he sees every day. When we sit in a tro-tro he always touches the person next to us – I think he likes the bright fabrics here too. He is standing up on everything and crawls really fast now. His babbling is sounding more like real words. Dada and mama – he repeats them over and over but doesn’t know what they mean. Seth taught him to wave. His favorite thing in the world is his pointer finger – he is really working on using his pointer finger and thumb to pick stuff up. He has started to use crying and making noise more when he is bored or wants our attention now. He gets upset when you take something away or don’t give him what he wants. He knows his name. He follows Seth and I when we leave the room. He dances or tries to eat the guitar when we play. He has four teeth and two more that are close to breaking through (hence many teeth marks in our 35 dollar, Ghanaian purchased, “Givson” guitar). He loves water to drink or play in and animals – luckily there is an abundance of goats and chickens on every street here…so he is a pretty happy camper in that respect. He is now sleeping through the night again, after three night of “ferberizing” him. The first night we let him cry for two hours – I know it sounds horrible – it was, but he is back to his old self now. So that is how baby Tom Tom is doing. Oh, you may notice the bug bites on his face and arms in some of these pictures – yes, I know they are there and they are awful and I really really don’t want to talk about them!

He's getting so big! I'm so glad for all of you that he is sleeping well again - what a difference that will make :-)!

I'm so glad you took the chance to write all this down. I know to you this is probably all trivial stuff to you but it sure helps me feel not so far away.

Tommy is such one cute boy!!

I agree with Sara. Plus, it will be fun to have documented in the future because i'm sure you'll forget the little things. Tommy is looking so much older and oh so cute!
