Sachets

When you buy water in Ghana you can buy a bottle or a sachet. A sachet is 5 cents. You bite off the corner, squeeze and drink. Most Ghanian’s throw the empty sachet bag into a nearby ditch or gutter, or just on the ground. Thomas loves sachets. It is ironic that I was freaking out about plastics 3 months ago and now I let my kid suck away on a cheap plastic bag. Anyhow, drinking sachets is a huge part of our day – I probably drink 4 or 5 a day. It is awesome that they are super accessible too. Just about every street you will see a young girl with a bowl full of cold sachets on her head yelling, “Pure water, its pure” over and over until someone buys one and she is distracted as she makes change.
