Tommy's Sticks

I have been meaning to post this for quite some time. But, as usual, it took the tech-savvyness of my husband to turn my word document into an image so I could share it with the world (or the small number of you that read this blog that make up my world).

There are many things about Tommy that I love but two of them are especially illustrated by this photo: his insanely creative imagination and his uncanny ability to remember things for long periods of time. He has been playing with this array of sticks for several months now. It is amazing that his collection has stayed so intact for so long. It is equally incredible that when I gathered them up to catalogue his armory, even I recognized the names and uses of most of the sticks. We play with them almost daily. I hope you enjoy this little peek into his mind as much as i do.

Wow -- that was like a glimpse into Seth's brain when he was three years old.

What an awesome kid!

Um, you best be printing this and framing that in his room. That's awesome.

You are the worlds most fantastic mother Caroline. FANTASTIC. You let Tommy be himself. You foster creativity. You don't micro-manage. You are involved and aware. You pay attention. You promote autonomy and respect his world.

Amazing. What a lucky boy he is.
