the house

Our house is very nice…quiet, good location, large, huge garden, pool. The only problem has been getting the repairs done that need to be done has taken…forever. However, as my favorite bumper sticker here reads: “No hurry in Africa”. So true! Also, somehow I understood that there was a “guest cottage” on the property. I am now aware that it is in fact a “servant’s quarters”. However, for those that are wanting and willing to come visit us…we will have it fixed up a bit, or you can stay in the “big house” with us.

There are so many things I want to blog about that I will get to in time but this is all I have in me for today. I will give a few more details about our general well being:

Seth loves his job and the people he works with.

We have been camping in our house for a week now – many of these things are borrowed, but….we have a mattress, a foam pad, mosquito nets, 4 pillows, a couch, one pot, one pan, a 16 piece set of dishes, a twenty piece set of silverware, an iron, ironing board, two towels, a mop and broom.

Cali sleeps in a suitcase.

We have a maid (Gloria) and a gardener (Wisdom). More on these two later.

Seth works with a man who’s family owns a came farm. Lawrence was kind enough to take us on a mini Jeep safari through the farm. The family also has lions. Two white lions are just family pets. We went to take a look and got to pet them. They honed in on Thomas, the smallest of the group, quickly one took a swipe at him when he got close, tore his shorts and gave him a good scratch. Not many kids can say they survived a lion attack!

As of two days ago, my wonderful husband acquired a 2002 Silver CRV…for me! YES!

Seth and I have both had wicked stomach flu this last week.

Cali rolled over yesterday for the first time.

Daily, Thomas either says he wants to go back to Yuma with his stuff or asks when the boat with his “stuff, like all his cool wooden swords and fun things” will get here.

Our things are in fact delayed at least an additional two weeks…they wont arrive in port Durban, South Africa, until the 21st of September...boo!

Thomas has started an impressive bug collection.

We have a giant, African rat in our kitchen.

We love and miss you all!

Oh my, I've been waiting for these posts for what seems like forever. It feels so good to know a little more what you are going through, where you live, and what you live with (the rat).

Love you guys!

Tommy, that's awesome about the lion. Was he super scared?
