No Third!

This is my new mantra! I have been so in love with my kids this past week that I have been seriously considering having anther one. Despite the fact that the general smells of Africa plus the hypersensitivity of smell during pregnancy is enough to make me toss my cookies right now. Then there is the promise I have made myself that I will not give birth in Zambia. None the less, I have been fantasizing about a beautiful number three baby.

Then, this weekend happened. To put it plainly, it sucked: a nice cold splash of water on my peaceful, dreaming self. So even though they are adorable in pictures and often times in real life, I don’t want another one…at least not today.

On another note...here is my conversation with Thomas this morning:

I get the kids in the car and just about hop in myself when Thomas looks at me and says,

“Mom, are you wearing that shirt to my school?”

Me: “Yes, what is wrong with it? Don’t you like it?” (Of course realizing that my faded “Earth” t- shirt belonged to one of my sisters when she was in middle school and kind of matches my sweat shorts in a sickly “all grey” kind of way.)

Thomas: “Um, no.”

Me: “Sorry”

Thomas: “Are you going to wear those shorts?”

Me: “Yep.” (I knew this was coming after the t-shirt comment.) “Are you embarrassed?”

Thomas: “Yeah, it is just all of my teachers are going to think you are sleeping.”

Me: “Okay, I will make you a deal, after today, I won’t wear this to your school anymore.”

Thomas: “Okay, well the shorts are okay, but not the shirt.”

Truth be told, I wear this or a similar ensemble to drop Thomas off at school probably every other day. I guess I have arrived at the apex of housewife-hood….my son is embarrassed of my clothes at his school.

3 is hard (at least for me!)...so definitely wait :-).
This is the first year with Ella that she cares about what I look like when I show up at her school. I went to help once still in my gym clothes with no makeup and she asked me about it later. We have a lot of pressure on us as moms!!!

So many things about this post make me laugh. I (seriously) say EVERY SINGLE DAY that I don't want a third.

Also, I kinda giggle that Thomas doesn't like your ensemble. He should be thanking you - it could be so much worse. I'll send him a snapshot of me dropping Ben off in the morning. ;)

Love you guys! Thanks for the laugh.

Three makes me very nervous. As for your outfit maybe you go in a bathrobe tomorrow and make him wish you were wearing your grey sweatsuit.

Ahh! That's hilarious. "It looks like you're sleeping." I'm seriously rolling over here. Please have a third just so I can laugh at what he/she says.
